SAN ANTONIO, TX — Police believe they have found the cause of an accident involving an 18-wheeler which occurred in San Antonio on Friday. The accident occurred early in the morning on the Loop 1604 access road. According to KSAT, an 18-wheeler parked in the right lane of the 1604 access road earlier that day. Later, another driver, whom police have identified as Jose Moreno, accidentally struck the trailer of the semi, and his pickup truck went under the trailer. Police pronounced Moreno dead at the scene.
Police later launched an investigation into why the underride crash occurred. They now believe that the driver was watching a YouTube video on his phone before the collision. Authorities added that he was not wearing a seatbelt and was driving over the speed limit.
