SAN ANTONIO, TX – A wrong-way driver was involved in two separate fatal crashes in San Antonio, reports KSAT.
The incidents occurred early Thursday morning on Loop 410 on the South Side, where a driver was going west in the eastbound lanes.
Police said the first accident happened at about 2:45 a.m. near Roosevelt Avenue, when the driver of a compact car swerved to avoid the wrong-way driver, struck the back of a truck, and became wedged underneath. The driver of the compact car died in the crash.
A few minutes later, the wrong-way driver hit another vehicle at Moursund Boulevard. The driver of that vehicle was also killed.
The wrong-way driver and a female passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries when their vehicle rolled over. The driver will face two counts of intoxication manslaughter, police said.
The eastbound lanes of Loop 410 were shut down while the scene was being cleared.
