Update: Man, woman charged following fatal crash in SE San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO, TX – A man and a woman are facing unspecified charges following a car accident that killed an elderly man and severely injured a child late last month, KSAT reports.

Prosecutors filed charges against 24-year-old Daniel Telles and 20-year-old Selena Hernandez on Monday stemming from the March 31 collision.

They allege that Telles had been driving 90 miles per hour in a 40 mph zone on Rigsby Avenue before turning onto Covington Road and colliding with a car driven by Antonio Arismendez Martinez.

Martinez, 80, died as a result of the crash.

Telles’ vehicle caught fire, injuring Hernandez’s two-year-old daughter, who became trapped inside. Witnesses said that none of the vehicle’s three adult occupants attempted to save the child.

The toddler’s spine was fractured, and she is now paralyzed on one side of her body.

The three adult occupants all received medical treatment for unspecified injuries.
