MATHIS, TX – One person is dead and three others are in the hospital after a Ford F-250 pickup truck was rear-ended by a Chevrolet Suburban on FM 666 near Mathis on August 29, The News of San Patricio reports.
Jesus Infant Jr. was driving on southbound FM 666 when he slowed down to turn into a private establishment and was rear-ended by the Chevrolet, operated by Joe Guerra Jr., 39. The collision forced both vehicles off the road.
First responders were dispatched to the crash site around 10 p.m. They pronounced Guerra dead at the scene. His passenger, a 5-year-old child, was taken to Driscoll Children’s Hospital.
Infant was also hospitalized at Bay Area Medical Center. His passenger, Ramir Gonzales, was transported to Spohn Shoreline Hospital.
The incident remains under investigation by the San Patricio Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety.
