CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – Authorities believe the driver who struck multiple vehicles during a rollover crash in the Sunrise Mall parking lot near Planet Fitness on Monday was impaired at the time of the accident, KRIS-TV reports.
The 47-year-old suspect was speeding when it clipped two cars, which caused it to roll multiple times before coming to a rest in the parking, striking even more vehicles in the process.
Emergency crews responded to the crash site around 2:30 p.m. They transported two victims to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. Three people were hospitalized in critical condition. A mother and her son suffered minor injuries.
Police have charged the suspect with three counts of intoxication assault. They are currently being treated for their injuries at a hospital.
