MCALLEN, TX – Police have arrested the driver they believe responsible for a fatal hit-and-run accident on the 400 block of Trenton Rd Saturday, KURV reports.
Otis Charles Baron, 29, was driving a Nissan Titan pickup truck on westbound Trenton Rd when he strayed into oncoming traffic and crashed into a Nissan Sentra driven by Sylvia Martinez De Gaza.
First responders were called to the crash scene and transported De Gaza and two other occupants of the Sentra to an area hospital. De Gaza was pronounced dead at the hospital. The other passengers suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Following the collision, Barron fled the scene but was later located by officers. Police arrested him for two counts of intoxicated assault, three counts of causing an accident involving injury and death, and one count of intoxicated manslaughter.
