Police chase ends in crash, brush fire near Edinburg

EDINBURG, TX – A police chase on I-69C ended in dramatic fashion yesterday when the suspect’s vehicle overturned several times and set off a brush fire, KRGV reports.

The pursuit began Wednesday afternoon when a Hidalgo County Sheriffā€™s deputy attempted to pull over a white Volkswagen for an unspecified traffic violation. The Volkswagen instead sped off, resulting in a chase that ended when its driver lost control of the vehicle near the northbound exit ramp to FM 490. The Volkswagen rolled over several times and then set off a gras fire which necessitated a response from several unspecified agencies.

It is unclear whether anyone was hurt. Police investigations are likely ongoing, and we will provide further updates if possible.
