1. Take photos as soon as you can after the car accident
Doing all the right things after a car crash can be overwhelming, but it’s important to take photos after the accident. You’ll want to take a picture of the position of the cars and the condition of the road.
Although accident photos are crucial, your health and safety come first!
If you are hurt, shaken up from the crash, or otherwise unable to move around and take pictures, task photography responsibilities to a passenger, loved one, or helpful witness.
2. Get auto accident scene photos from different angles.
Then, step a few feet away from the wreck and capture more photos of the accident as seen from all sides.
3. Document every detail.
A detail that may seem unimportant at the time may be important for legal or insurance reasons later on.
4. Take the same pictures with and without a flash.
Lighting can affect the detail and quality of your photos, so take pictures with the flash and without the flash. If anything looks unclear or distorted, having a backup image with different lighting can help your case.
5. Capture photos of the surrounding area.
Don’t forget to take photos of the surrounding area, especially anything that played a part in or resulted from the crash. Skid marks, broken glass, traffic signs, road debris, and even weather conditions help paint a clearer picture of why your auto accident happened.
6. Photograph your injuries.
Wounds heal, and bruises fade, so make sure to photograph any injuries soon after your crash. If you’re unable to take photos yourself, ask someone to assist you. These photos can be crucial for your case. If your injuries aren’t visible, keep records of medical documents and tests, such as x-rays or MRIs.
7. Take photos of everyone’s documents.
After a auto collision, you need to get the following documents: driver’s license information, car registration, and insurance information. We recommend you take photographs of the documents to help prevent these types of errors.
8. Take as many photo as you can.
Take as many photos as possible. Remember, the key is that the more photos you take, the more helpful it can be towards your case. You can always delete old pictures cluttering up your camera roll, but you can’t take new photos after the auto collision scene is cleaned up.
