ALTON, TX – According to KURV, a suspected drunk driver fatally collided with another vehicle on Moorefield Rd near Alton Saturday.
The driver of a Mazda 6 was on northbound Moorefield Rd when they strayed into the southbound lanes of traffic and collided head-on with a GMC Sierra truck.
Rescue crews pronounced a passenger in the Mazda dead at the scene of the accident and transported the Mazda driver and the two occupants of Sierra to an area hospital.
Authorities have charged the Mazda driver with intoxication manslaughter and assault. The driver will be arraigned once they are discharged from the hospital.
The incident is under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
