SAN ANTONIO, TX – 70-year-old George Escamilla was hit by a car and killed while walking in the street near Bandera Road. My San Antonio reports that the accident occurred at 9:30 p.m. on April 23. A driver in a Dodge Grand Caravan hit Escamilla when he was crossing the street near a West Side Walgreens.
Police rushed Escamilla to University Hospital with serious injuries, but he died later in the evening. The driver stayed at the scene of the accident until the police arrived. He told San Antonio police officers that he did not see Escamilla walking in the dark street. Police report that the driver was sober and fully cognizant at the time of the crash. The driver is not expected to face criminal charges for the accident.
