SAN ANTONIO, TX. – The eastbound lanes of Loop 1604 were shut down for hours on Tuesday evening after a fatal wreck claimed the life of one person and sent two others to the hospital. SAPD reports that two vehicles were involved in the accident, and authorities suspect that road rage may have played a factor. The collision occurred shortly before 7:00 p.m. on 1604 near Tradesmen Drive, according to KSAT 12.
The three victims were in an SUV that reportedly was involved in an altercation with a driver in a sports car that has not yet been identified. The driver of the SUV lost control of the vehicle, hit a wall, and rolled over. The deceased was reportedly a man in his early 20’s. Another man was hospitalized in critical condition. A third victim, a female, was in stable condition.
Eyewitnesses say the second vehicle, a sports car, sped off without stopping to render aid. Authorities are working to identify the driver and the vehicle. Once SAPD has released a description of the car, we will update this developing story.
