UPDATE: Police find 18-wheeler involved in hit-and-run

SAN ANTONIO, TX – In an update to a previous report, the police believe they have located the 18-wheeler that killed a driver on IH-10 on Friday morning.

According to KSAT 12, a commercial truck crashed into a Ford Fiesta on eastbound IH-10 at approximately 5:30 a.m. on May 22. The truck drove away from the scene of the accident, without helping the woman in the Ford.

The woman driving the Ford was killed in the accident. Officers at the scene believe that she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

At 8:00 a.m. the police located the 18-wheeler parked at the Shops at Rivercenter. Officials state that the truck showed signs of front-end damage and pieces of the Ford Fiesta were lodged underneath the wheels.

The driver parked the truck near Bowie Street and Crockett Street and then left the vehicle. However, the police found a second person sleeping in the back of the truck. They detained the man for questioning, but officials report that he was not the driver at the time of the accident.

The police are still searching for the truck’s driver at this time.

Officers are asking anyone who witnessed the accident contact the police at 210-207-7385.
